A new white paper by New Polis, prepared in cooperation with E3 International, looks beyond installed generation capacity to examine what increasingly matters for major energy-intensive investments: grid access, connection conditions, time-to-power and system flexibility.
“Beyond Megawatts: Grid Readiness and Energy Competitiveness in the Balkans” compares eight Balkan electricity systems and asks a practical question: could a new large consumer secure 100 MW at a specific location, on workable terms and within an investment-relevant timeframe?
The paper highlights a broader shift in regional energy competitiveness: it is no longer only about how many megawatts a system has, but how many it can make usable for the next major consumer.
